Tanya Te Miringa Te Rorarangi Ruka

Tanya Te Miringa Te Rorarangi Ruka (Ngati Pakau, Ngapuhi) is a research-based contemporary arts practitioner, educator, mother and advocate for iwi. Her work in the digital landscape is dedicated to embedding indigenous knowledge and perspectives into contemporary narratives and practices. Firmly placing Indigenous ways of knowing and being in landless territories of new imagined futures. She is director for counter-mapping Indigenous territories with Native Land Digital. She has recently been the inaugural Kaitiaki Kiriata, a new role that supports a Māori curator to develop moving image projects which speak through the lens of Te Ao Māori. Tanya collaborates with a network of indigenous and non-indigenous experts to develop sustainable, circular-design textiles and new materials. She currently lectures in Mātauranga Māori, at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University.
