
Laurel Belworthy
Laurel Belworthy is a fourth generation Pākehā multimedia artist based in Auckland. She was raised in Taranaki and is mother to two adult daughters. She has a Diploma in Art and Creativity (Hons). Laurel has participated in numerous and two solo shows and is a past recipient of The Pumphouse Award. Her current work explores the place and presence of the sacred feminine and mothering: The Everyday Woman.
With long-standing expertise across community development in the arts, education, social services, Laurel is committed to not-for-profit organisational change management. She works to build resilience and find solutions toward self-determination and thriving communities. Her perspectives on patriarchy and feminist-thinking inspire and inform her creative practice, exploring intergenerational connections and the experience of woman/motherhood in a patriarchal over-culture through mixed materiality.
